The staff and kitchen aim to please and will prepare any of the fish and seafood to you liking even if its not mentioned on the menu. Often found in several similar establishment smoked fish dip served with chopped onions, capers and that forever lasting staple: Melba Toast.Ī delicious and perfectly grilled freshly caught swordfish with Mar Vista rice and Florida garnish. The atmosphere is “old Florida” casual and the menu offers an abundance of fresh fish and seafood with several other old Florida classics. The friendly staff are quite warm and embracing and will make you feel at home. The very lovely spacious garden area has comfortable tables overlooking the Bay. One may reach Mar Vista by car or boat if you are sailing to and fro on Sarasota Bay look for Mile Marker 39!! The above photo is the very lovely wooden dock which is ideal for strolling and/or fishing before or after your delicious meal in true “old Florida” style!! It resembles an old Florida fish shanty converted into a pub and restaurant with a wonderful outdoor tree lit garden with a great view of Sarasota Bay. Originally built in 1912, Mar Vista is actually the second oldest structure on Longboat Key. Located on the northern tip of the island almost in Ana Maria is the old florida fish and seafood house of Mar Vista. Longboat Key is actually an upscale island somewhat sleepy resort area just off the coast of Sarasota Bay. I was fortunate enough to spend a most recent birthday weekend with family in Longboat Key, Florida. ![]()
